Jay Genaille is a professional Hoop Dancer, Workshop Facilitator and Speaker. He is Cree, Salteaux and Anishnaabe, born and raised in Calgary, AB with his Ancestral roots originating from Misipawistik Cree Nation, Lake St. Martin First Nation and Cowessess First Nations. Jay first started Hoop Dancing when he was 9 years old and was mentored by a 3x World Champion Hoop Dancer. He was given the opportunity to attend the World Championship Hoop Dance Competition at the Heard Museum in Phoenix, AZ and has performed at the Grandstand show 2 years in a row. Finally, Jay went on to represent the Calgary Stampede at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Throughout the last few years, he has had the privilege to be invited to many diverse communities to share his cultural gifts.

Jay is the Founder and Owner of IndigiCree Hoop Dancing Company. A few years ago he had a vision to create his own business in hopes to inspire youth to follow their dreams as a way to become strong young entrepreneurs in our world today. Jay believes in giving back to community by sharing his cultural talent with both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people across Turtle Island and beyond. Jay lives his life in a circle doing his best to take care of his mental, physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of health by exercising at the fitness centre, connecting with the Land, engaging in diverse Indigenous ceremonies, eating healthy, sleeping well and taking time to sit and listen to the wisdom of his Elders and mentors. Jay has a 12-year old son named 7 Times Standing Strong (Jacob) who is of mixed Indigenous and settler ancestry. He is an avid Ice and Ball Hockey player. Jacob loves to come on the road with his dad. He is currently learning how to Hoop Dance, Drum and sing. Jay is creating the foundation for him to be able to carry on the business when he is older.

Ana identifies as a Mayan Indigenous women. Her ancestors are from the Motagua River and Eastern Guatemalan Highlands. Ana also has Spanish and Portuguese roots from El Salvador. She was born and raised in a settler family and acknowledges her privilege.  Ana is the manager of IndigiCree Hoop Dancing Company. Ana has both  Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Child and Youth Care from the University of Victoria. She is completing her third year of her Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Studies at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver Campus. Ana's doctoral studies project is focused on how Indigenous female adoptees have come to understand their Indigenous identity while in post-secondary education. Finally she has her own business called Maria Miranda Consulting where she is a therapist in the Correctional Service Field. Ana is an Indigenous educator, key note speaker and workshop facilitator.
